We take you through some of the MI cricketer reactions after winning Dream11 IPL 2020.
Kieron Pollard: Five trophies so I think we're unprecedented now
The number of trophies, the amount of talent that's there, you can say MI is the best T20 team going around. The management, the support staff, the effort they put in to make. Five trophies so I think we're unprecedented now. The next team is at three trophies. Dwayne Bravo you are behind me now (about number of T20 titles), I have to say that on camera
Jasprit Bumrah: We are just happy to bring smiles to people back home
“We started working way before other teams began. The hard work has paid off. We wanted to break the jinx of winning every two years. Very happy as a team, it means a great deal. The pandemic has been such a shock. We are grateful to come back and play cricket. We are just happy we could bring back some smiles to the people back home, it's been a tough few months. From the first game, I felt my rhythm was up. A lot of confidence came after the Super Over that I bowled against Virat and AB.”
Suryakumar Yadav: Didn’t mind sacrificing wicket for Rohit at all
“We had a chat in the bus that we've won tournaments in alternate years. So great to win it in 2020. Preparations, processes, and routines are important. You go and express yourself. Rohit was batting well. Most importantly, he's been anchoring well since the first game. I don't mind sacrificing my wicket for him at all.”
Hardik Pandya: I believe we have done well
“We focused on preparations. And I believe, we've done well. I enjoy what I do. For me, it was about opportunity. Wasn't able to bowl this year. It's just about backing myself.”
Krunal Pandya: There was never a doubt about Ishan Kishan's talent
“It's the hunger to be at the top always. We've never taken any season lightly. We've worked hard and the hunger is always there. Even back in Mumbai, we prepared hard. We came one month early, everyone knew their roles and was just going out there and executing what they were doing in the nets.”
“There was never a doubt about Ishan Kishan's talent. He was ready to listen and ready to improve. What I liked about Ishan this season was that he was ready to improve and listen. He wasn't there in the first XI but great for him to grab his opportunity with both hands. All credit goes to him for how he came back in this season, It isn't easy to bat at four, then open and come back to four. Happy about how he has gone about this season.”
Jayant Yadav: Great feeling to be a champion side for two consecutive years
“Happy to win the title. Great feeling to be a champion side for two consecutive years. Shows the strength of the franchise. It's the effort you put in throughout the season. It's a long tournament and you have to be professional and on your toes. It's about working constantly throughout the season. There will be small battles and matchups you have to fight.”
Rahul Chahar: Feel great to have contributed to us coming first
“Feels great. Me not playing isn't important, winning is. I feel great to have contributed to us coming first. I can bowl quickly, bowl slow, and have the variations as well.”
Quinton de Kock: It’s pretty special as everyone worked hard
“Missing the family is difficult for everyone. It's a great feeling. You see what it means to the franchise. There were questions around if MI can win back to back titles. Everybody worked extra hard. The support staff and everyone, we couldn't have done it without them. It's pretty special.”
