Match Preview: India look to wrap up ODI series in Sri Lanka

The Men in Blue will be elated with the performance of youngsters Prithvi Shaw and Ishan Kishan as well as the bowling department. As for Sri Lanka, they will need to raise their game after a dismal performance in the first ODI. 

After captaining the Indian team for the maiden time, Shikhar Dhawan will now look to secure his first series win on Tuesday. 

We take you through some of the talking points ahead of the second One Day International. 

Batsmen in great form 

Put to chase a total of 263, the Indian batsmen finished the job in just 36.4 overs. The duo of Prithvi Shaw and Ishan Kishan put up a fearless batting show in the middle where they scored 102 runs from just 66 balls. Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with 86* while Surya also looked promising during his stay at the crease. 

Sri Lanka continue to struggle 

None of the Sri Lankan batsmen managed to cross 50 in the first ODI. Moreover the highest score of 43* was posted by number nine batsman Chamika Karunaratne. The hosts will look to step up their game with the bat. 

Bhuvneshwar looks to get amongst wickets 

The right-arm medium pacer bowled an economical first spell before going for a few in the death overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar who had a significant injury layoff returned to the England series and was looking in sublime form. He will look to get back to rhythm in the second ODI. 

Team India look to seal the series 

The Shikhar Dhawan-led side has a golden opportunity to seal the series in the second ODI itself. This will be India's ninth consecutive bilateral series over Sri Lanka. It will also give them a chance to try some fresh faces for the final ODI. 

Kuldeep Yadav back in form 

The wrist spinner who hasn't been in the best of form recently wreaked havoc against the Sri Lankan top order. Kuldeep Yadav picked two wickets in a single over to put the opposition under backfoot. He will look to continue the good form and cement his place again. 

The second ODI is scheduled to take place at the same venue from 3 PM IST. The confident Indian unit will look to wrap the series on Tuesday itself.
