Match preview, KKR vs MI: We take on old rivals in a new venue

By Mumbai Indians

In our third game of Tata IPL 2022, Mumbai Indians will lock horns with the Kolkata Knight Riders at the MCA stadium in Pune on April 6th.

After two afternoon matches to begin the season, this will be our first evening game of the season as the action kicks off at 7:30 PM.

The numbers do give MI an advantage against KKR as we have won 22 of our 29 games while our opposition have won seven games.

The last five games against KKR also make for encouraging reading as MI hold a 4-1 record in our previous five matches, although KKR won the last encounter.

Another point to note is that KKR have never lost any of the six games they have played in Pune.

Players to watch out for

Umesh Yadav has been a potent force for KKR this season, having conceded runs at less than 6 an over in each of the three matches. He has also picked wickets in the powerplay in every game.

Sunil Narine has also kept batters guessing with his variations so far and has not gone at more than 6 an over in any of their three games.

Andre Russell hit form for KKR with a 31-ball 70* in their previous match vs PBKS.

For MI, Pocket Dynamo Ishan Kishan has scored consecutive fifties and also crossed 3000 T20 runs last time out vs RR.

Young gun Tilak Varma hit a maiden Tata IPL fifty vs RR and looked at home against spinners and pacers alike.

Jasprit Bumrah and Tymal Mills took three wickets each vs RR and seem to work well in tandem.

Upcoming milestones

Captain Hitman is 54 away from completing 10,000 T20 runs in his career. He also needs just five more sixes to complete 200 sixes for MI.

Tim David needs 22 more runs to get to 2000 T20 runs.

Suryakumar Yadav needs four more sixes to reach 150 T20 sixes while two big hits will get him to 50 sixes for MI.

We will need all your support Paltan as we aim for that first win of Tata IPL 2022!
