Melie + MI = Magic
Amelia Kerr in the Mumbai Indians Blue and Gold wasn’t just a player, she was a vibe. A vibe that always made you believe that you were in the game.
With just five retentions allowed ahead of the mega auction, every MI fan desperately hoped there was some way to get Amelia Kerr retained as well. So MI did the second best thing possible – with peak MI Spirit on full display, going all guns blazing to make sure she is bought back at the Auction. That’s right, we simply weren’t letting her get away.
“Can’t wait to be back at Mumbai with the MI Family. I have absolutely loved my last three years there. So excited to be back,” Amelia said in a video message to Mumbai Indians on her homecoming.
The coaches too echoed similar sentiments. “It’s really exciting. I know she loves Mumbai and she was hoping to come back. We are really excited to have her. She made a big impact last season and I’m sure she’ll do the same this season,” said the Head Coach, Lisa Keightley.
Jhulan Goswami, MI’s Mentor and Bowling Coach was relieved at Melie’s return to the fold as well. “Amelia has been a great performer for our team, as a quality number five batter and as the highest wicket-taker (season 3). Having her in the team is a blessing. That’s why we wanted to bring her back,” she said.
That’s right. Melie, at Mumbai Indians, is more than a blessing. She is magic.
