MI celebrate IPL 2019 triumph with Paltan during Champions Parade

By Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians celebrated winning Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 with their passionate fans on Monday by taking part in an open bus Champions Parade. MI became the most successful team in the IPL last night after beating Chennai Super Kings in the final for a record-fourth title. The boys celebrated the win in style and flaunted the latest addition to our trophy cabinet in front of thousands of enthusiastic fans, who had gathered to grab a glimpse of their favourite stars.

The Champions Parade began this evening from near the Jaslok Hospital signal on Peddar Road, where there was a jam-packed crowd present that threw garlands at the bus and chanted their favourite players’ names. Thousands of zealous fans were in attendance to give the boys a hero’s welcome, which they’ve deserved.

Head coach Mahela Jayawardene spoke about how seeing so many passionate supporters will help the boys connect with the fans. “They have been supporting us throughout the season. It is good to be part of this for the boys as well to understand how passionate the supporters are, and it gives them pride as well when we bring the cup back home.”

Meanwhile, Yuvraj Singh likened it to the reception received by the national side after winning the 2007 T20 World Cup. “It’s great to see that the whole of Mumbai is on the street and the last time when I saw this was the 2007 T20 World Cup. So, it’s amazing to see the city at night, it’s amazing to see the people who have come out and are happy and have supported us. It feels really good and I’m very happy for the boys.”

Here's a video of the boys celebrating on the open bus.

The players were clearly still soaking in the emotion from last night and waved at fans, while also throwing some MI T-shirts and caps to the fans from the open bus as we celebrated our victory together as #OneFamily. The victory parade ended at the Trident Hotel in Nariman Point. Skipper Rohit Sharma and other players including our support staff took to social media to share their thoughts on the massive turnout by the Mumbai faithful.
