MI Junior 2024: Matunga Premier School, Modern English School enter Boys’ Under-16 quarter-finals

Kushal Patil (105 off 83) slammed a breathtaking ton to lift Matunga Premier School to a 130-run win over Swami Vivekanand International School (Borivali) in an MI Junior Boys’ Under-14 pre-quarterfinal clash in Mumbai on Thursday.

Kushal, who was well supported by Shryash Gowari (73* off 70), took Matunga Premier to an impressive 265/7 in 40 overs. Kushal then struck twice with the ball (2 for 24) to dismiss SVIS for 135 runs.

Meanwhile, Varad Phadtare (6 for 11) shone for IES VN Sule English School (Dadar) as they dismantled KC Gandhi English School (Kalyan) for a meagre 78 runs. IES then sailed to victory comfortably in 20.3 overs.

In another match in the same category, Praanav Iyengar (4 for 17) and Nishad Parab (3 for 19) wreaked havoc to bowl Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English School out for just 79 runs. In response, Modern English School (Chembur) chased down the target in 12.4 overs for the loss of only two wickets.

Elsewhere, in a Boys’ Under-16 quarter-final in Mumbai, Svanik Waghdhare (74 off 66) and Om Mhashilkar (53* off 65) snatched a close 3-wicket win for Shardashram Vidyamandir (Dadar) against Lakshdham High School (Goregaon).

Batting first, Lakshdham put up a total of 209/3 in 40 overs thanks to a stellar ton by Tanish Shetty (106* off 112). Chasing a challenging total, Svanik and Om guided Shardashram across the finish line with just 9 balls to spare.
