
MI Junior 2025: Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School register huge 109-run victory
In what turned out to be a heavily one-sided affair, Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School (CSMT) triumphed over National English School (Virar) by a decisive margin of 109 runs in a Super League match of the MI Junior Interschool Cricket Tournament in Mumbai on Friday.
After electing to bat first, Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School managed a score of 181 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 40 overs. Hardik Gajmal starred with ball in hand by picking up 3 wickets. However, it was opener Arhaan Patel’s perseverance that saw him score 69 runs. Handy contributions from Darshav Ojha (27) and Anuj Singh (26) ensured that Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School reached a competitive total of 181 runs.
In response, National English School kept losing wickets at an alarming rate and they were eventually bundled out for just 72 runs. Skipper Aarav Yadav (5/21) and Vedant Kadu (3/14) worked in tandem, with the former taking a 5-wicket haul to ensure a thoroughly deserved victory for Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School.
In the Girls’ U-15 category, St. Joseph Convent High School triumphed over St. Marys High School with a dominant 10-wicket victory. Batting first, St. Mary's High School could only manage a total of 70 for 9, as skipper Rutuja Wandhe led the bowling attack, ending the match with figures of 4 for 15. With just 71 runs required to win, St. Joseph Convent High School raced to a commanding 10-wicket victory as they chased down the target in just 7.1 overs with opener Tanvita Yuvaraja top-scoring with a 34 not out.
