MI Junior 2026: Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School Crowned U-16 Champions In A Thriller
In what turned out to be an adrenaline-enticing encounter, Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School triumphed over Sitaram Prakash High School in a shortened Finals of the Mumbai Indians Junior Under-16 Boys Inter School Cricket Tournament 2026.
After being put into bat, Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School displayed the strength and depth of their batting order as majority of their batters crossed the 20-run mark. However, none of the batters were able to capitalise on their starts with Kabir Jagtap (41), Laxmanprasad Vishwakarma (39) and Ramprasad Vishwakarma (38) being the prime examples. Eventually, it was skipper Yuvan Sharma’s fiery knock of 52 runs off just 20 balls at the business end that powered Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School to a towering total of 253 runs in their stipulated 30 overs.
Sitaram Prakash High School’s chase for the championship revolved heavily around a lone-warrior effort of opener Aayush Shete who went to on to score a valiant century. While wickets tumbled at one end, Aayush Shete single-handedly kept his side in the game as he showcased utmost class and poise under tremendous pressure and went on to amass a staggering 155 runs. Alas, it was not to be for Aayush Shete and Sitaram Prakash High School as they came agonisingly close, only to lose out by just 3 runs, handing Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School – the runners-ups in the previous edition – their second U-16 title.
In the Boys U-14 category, V.K Krishna Menon Academy outclassed Dnyandeep Seva Mandal High School by a decisive margin of 21 runs in the Finals of the Mumbai Indians Junior Under-14 Boys Inter School Cricket Tournament 2026.
In the first innings, V.K Krishna Menon Academy asserted dominance early on due to some handy contributions by their top-order batters. A 121-run opening stand between Christiano Buthello and Hridhaan Mistry (49) with the former top-scoring with a gritty knock of 59, alongside a crucial 41 by Ridit Poojary placed V.K Krishna Menon Academy in a dominant position. However, Aryan Chauhan led a spirited fight-back with ball in hand as he picked up 4 wickets, thereby restricting V.K Krishna Menon Academy to 225 runs.
With 226 runs required, Lavish Singh single-handedly carried Dnyandeep Seva Mandal High School’s hopes as he went on to score an artistic century. However, Lavish Singh’s sensational ton failed to receive the support of his teammates as Soham Mokari (4/20) and Parth Nalawade’s (3/39) clinical bowling led V.K Krishna Menon Academy to glory.
History beckoned in the Girls U-15 category as both Modern English School as well as Parag English School were first-time finalists with Modern English School going on to lift the cup with a definitive 4-wicket win.
After being put into bat, Parag English School’s innings was centred around a valiant half-century by opener Vedika Nikam as the rest of the batters failed to create any considerable impact as Rianna Nikhil (3/23) and Nysa Bhalerao (2/11) struck at regular intervals.
In response, Modern English School were in a spot of bother early on at 52 for 4 as Advaita Toraskar struck thrice. However, a crucial 55-run stand for the 5th wicket between Ruth Saluja (40) and Tanvi Rane (31 n.o) with the latter remaining unbeaten guided Modern English School to their maiden title in the Girls U-15 category.

Nagpur: Viraj Saraf’s Ton Drives Team D to Mammoth 136-Run Win
In what turned out to be a heavily one-sided encounter, Team D annihilated Team B to register a formidable 136-run victory in a league match of the Mumbai Indians Junior Boys Rising Star League 2026.
The decision to bat first paid dividends for Team D as they stamped their authority early on with a 191-run opening partnership between Aleen Ate and Viraj Saraf. The diverse duo seemed as if ice and fire, complementing each other with their contrasting styles. While Aleen Ate displayed resilience and grit in his 54-run knock, Viraj Saraf played the aggressor as he showcased a marauding masterclass, scoring 124 runs off just 90 deliveries. Skipper Faizan Syed led a lone warrior effort, scalping 3 wickets and was the sole wicket-taker for Team B. However, a pyrotechnic frenzy from Raunik Hedau that saw him score 77 off just 35 balls propelled Team D to a commanding total of 305 runs at the end of the stipulated 40 overs.
Team B’s response was centred around a valiant 40 by Ankur Gedam as they lost wickets at crucial junctures and were eventually bundled out for 169 runs.
