
MI Junior: Rujul Ranje, Lokesh Rathod shine for their teams in Mumbai leg
Rujul Ranje, Lokesh Rathod and others made impactful and shining performances for their respective teams in the Mumbai leg of Mumbai Indians Junior Inter School cricket tournament on Thursday.
A stroke-filled unbeaten 101 by Rujul Ranje helped Sri MA Vidyalaya, Thane race to a seven-wicket victory over Dhirubhai Ambani International School in the Mumbai Indians Junior Under-16 Inter School cricket tournament here on Thursday.
Batting first, Dhirubhai Ambani school put up a fighting 175 in 35.1 overs, with Amartya Raje (71) and Ayrton Malhotra (60) contributing strongly. In reply, the Thane school reached the target in just 22.5 overs, losing only three wickets in the process.
In another U-16 match, Lokesh Rathod (67 and 6 for 39) shone both with the bat and ball to guide Kendriya Vidyalaya IIT, Powai to a massive 164-run win.
Batting first, Kendriya Vidyalaya IIT, Powai scored 327/3 in 38.0 Overs, with Pravar Rai scoring a magnificent 153. In response, Lok Puram Public School could shore up only 163 in 29.5 overs courtesy Lokesh Rathod's 6 for 39. Akshat Kamble was their main scorer for Lok Puram with 56.
Meanwhile, in a low scoring-U-14 Boys match, Arya Vidya Mandir School (Vile Parle) couldn't chase a paltry total of 28, losing by 3 runs as Yuvan Sharma (5 for 3) and Zaid Khan (4 for 1) made impactful contributions for Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English Medium School.
In another match of the same category, Vibgyor High Malad East beat RBK Mira Road by five runs after putting just 132 runs on the board. Ishaan Malviya (84) was the star performer for Vibgyor team.
On the other hand, Anjuman-I-Islam Mustafa Fakih Urdu High School, Turbhe won by walkover against Abhinav Vidya Mandir, Borivali in an Under 15 Girls match.
The other match in the same category saw Sri Ma Vidyalaya (Thane) beat JV Parekh International School (Thane) by just four runs. Shreeni Soni with her 67 was the top-scorer for Sri Ma Vidyalaya.
In a low-scoring Under-16 Boys match, Podar International School Powai CBSE suffered a crushing 10-wicket loss against IES New English School after getting bowled out for just 61 runs. Openers Siddhant Sinha (32 not out) and Arya Bele (25 not out) were the star performers for the IES team.
Another match of the same category saw Scholars English High School, Bhiwandi lose to VK Krishna Menon Academy, Borivali by four wickets despite Krish Yadav 3 for 21. Scholars' team were bowled out for just 89 runs.
