MIvRCB preview: Plenty at stake – MI target direct Final entry, RCB target qualification

By Mumbai Indians

Every game in this last week has been a classic. Every result in the last week has thrown up new permutation on the points table. And fittingly, even in the last two days of the league stage, there’s no dead rubber. This one’s certainly not.

Both these teams are coming off respective thrillers, albeit on opposite sides of the result. Mumbai Indians, on the back of Kaptaan Kaur’s magical 95 in the game where the sprinklers went off against the Gujarat Giants, are coming in with the confidence of having made it to the playoffs. What now remains is a bid to secure a direct entry into the Final on Sunday (March 17). A win here won’t necessarily guarantee us that, given that the Delhi Capitals will have a game left and are set to play a day after us. A loss too might not necessarily deny us that as things would boil down to the NRR. Nevertheless, this is what we love about this year’s WPL. You just never know until the last ball is bowled!

Our opponents, RCB, meanwhile, are coming off a heartbreaking one-run loss against the Capitals, a game that left them in tears by the end of it. They now are in the same boat as the UP Warriorz. Although with the Warriorz playing a day before them, they’d have the qualification scenario laid out clearly in front of them. Right then, let’s add another thrilling chapter to the Blue-Red rivalry, shall we?

What: Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

When: March 12, 2024 | 7:30pm

Where: Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi

What to expect: It was an Amelia Kerr show the last time these two teams met in what was an easy chase for us. With the stakes much higher this time around, and the trend this week of having a final over finish after a final over finish, you would do well to save your nails.
