Rohit keeps India in control after Axar attack
The Pink Ball Test kicked off at the world's largest cricket stadium in Motera on Wednesday. Ishant Sharma was presented with a special cap by the President of India at the start of the match.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, England lost a couple of wickets in the first six overs. Zak Crawley and skipper Joe Root tried to build a partnership before the opener's resistance was put to an end by Axar Patel.
Following that, England crumbled from 74/2 to 112 all out. This was the fourth consecutive innings where they failed to cross the 200-run mark. On the other hand, India recovered well after losing a couple of early wickets before losing Kohli in the last over before Stumps.
Here are some of the talking points on Day One:
Zak Crawley battles it out with a half-century
The England opener scored a splendid fifty that too at a good strike rate even though the rest of the team fell like a pack of cards. Leaving Crawley's effort with the bat, no other batsman managed to cross 20 runs for the visitors.
Fourth Test fifty for Zak Crawley!

Axar Patel picks career-best six-wicket haul
Playing only his second Test match, Axar Patel impressed with a six-wicket haul. The left-arm spinner also became only the third cricketer to pick a fifer in his first two Tests.
His dismissals included Crawley, Bairstow, Stokes, Foakes, Jofra, and Broad.

Rohit Sharma scores an unbeaten fifty in difficult conditions
Batting under tough circumstances under the lights and against the pink ball, Rohit Sharma stood tall with a half-century. The opener continued to look in comfort despite India losing early wickets.
He stays unbeaten on 57* looking towards another big score in the series.
