
Rohit, Malinga nominated for ICC Awards of the Decade
The International Cricket Council on Tuesday announced the nominations for ICC Awards of the Decade. The nominations were based upon the performances over the last ten years.
Rohit, Malinga nominated in two categories
Rohit Sharma has been nominated for the ICC Men's ODI Player of the Decade. Hitman became the first-ever cricketer to score three double centuries in ODIs and also holds the record for the highest individual score in the format. Lasith Malinga was also nominated in the same category. The right-arm pacer has a record three ODI hattricks in the format.
Both cricketers were also nominated for the ICC Men's T20I Player of the Decade. Rohit remains to be the only batsman to score four centuries in the shortest format. He has the most sixes (127) while Malinga is the highest wicket-taker (107) in T20Is. The bowler has also got two hat-tricks.
Mumbai Indians Head Coach Mahela Jayawardene was also amongst the nominations for the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award of Decade.

Kohli, Dhoni also get nominated
Amongst the Indian contingent, MS Dhoni was nominated for two categories i.e. ICC Men's ODI Player of the Decade and ICC Men's Spirit of Cricket Award of Decade. Ravichandran Ashwin was one of the nominees for ICC Men's Cricketer of the Decade.
Virat Kohli was the only cricketer to be nominated for every men's category, i.e. ODI, Tests, T20I, Spirit of Cricket as well as the Cricketer of the Decade award. The Indian captain has scored the most runs in international cricket during the decade.
In the Women's category, Mithali Raj led the way with nominations under both categories, i.e. ICC Women's Cricketer of the Decade as well as ICC Women's ODI Player of the Decade award. Jhulan Goswami was also included in the latter category. While Mithali holds the record for most runs (6888) in the format, Jhulan is the highest wicket-taker with 225 scalps.
