Team India look to whitewash Sri Lanka in ODI series
After sealing the ODI series 2-0, Team India will be further aiming to whitewash Sri Lanka. As for the hosts, after giving a tough fight in the second ODI, they will look to fetch a victory for pride.
India secured a dominant victory in the first ODI followed by a thriller in the second ODI. They will hence be wary not to take the opposition lightly. Sri Lanka on the other hand, will look to finish the series on a better note.
We take you through the talking point ahead of the third ODI between India and Sri Lanka.
Opportunity for other players
With the series already won, Team India may give chances to some of the youngsters in the side. The likes of Sanju Samson, Devdutt Padikkal, Rahul Chahar and Chetan Sakariya will be keen on proving themselves in the 50-over format.
Surya in scintillating form
After the confidence Suryakumar Yadav displayed at the crease in the first two games, it would be difficult to believe that this was his first-ever assignment in ODIs. With innings of 31* (20) and 53 (44), he has shown his agility with the bat. Surya will however look to stay for a longer duration to make a larger impact.
Chahal looks to finish as highest wicket-taker
Yuzvendra Chahal has been in prime form so far right from breaking partnerships to restricting the run-scoring. The leg-spinner is also just three wickets short of completing 100 ODI wickets. There wouldn't be a better occasion than his birthday to achieve this milestone.
Hardik returns to bowling
The most positive sign for Team India would be Hardik Pandya's return to bowling. The right-arm medium pacer has bowled in both games and even picked a wicket. With the T20 World Cup in sight, he will look to not push himself much and be prepared to bowl four overs.
Some positives for Sri Lanka
After a big loss in the first game, Sri Lanka came back stronger in the second ODI. They started well with the bat. While they lost their mojo in the middle, the hosts managed to finish on a high with Chamika again stepping up. In the bowling department, Wanindu Hasaranga kept the Indian batting under check throughout his spell and also picked three important wickets.
Team India will look to complete the whitewash and carry the confidence in the upcoming T20I series.
