The Ashwani Kumar Show - Pace, perfection and prime performance
Ashwani unleashed thunder ⚡,
GT were only left to wonder 🤔.
From perfection to precision, he ticked every box ✅,
That made the opposition feel they were completely foxed 😵💫.
All through his dynamic spell, this youngster set the tone 💪,
Making this particular night his very own 👊.
When Paltan asked for a special player to rise 🙏,
Our very own Ashwani put up his hand and delivered pure magic under Ahmedabad skies 💙.
What a night it was for young bowler Ashwani Kumar, who weaved spectacular wizardry with the ball during his first game of IPL 2026 versus Gujarat Titans on 20th April 2026. Grabbing 4/24 in his four overs wasn’t just a great spell, it was a statement. On a night where Mumbai Indians roared back to their ruthless best, Ashwani took responsibility through all the noise and lit up the Narendra Modi Stadium. The speedster did not just bowl, he rattled and disrupted the opposition batting.

His first breakthrough was the dangerous Shubman Gill who looked in good form at home. Something special was brewing and what followed was a masterclass with the ball. He stuck to his gameplan and executed to perfection. The talented young gun was not just hitting the deck, he was hitting the right lengths, asking the correct questions and forcing GT into making errors.
Indeed, a man on a mission, mixing pace with calmness and patience. He was rewarded with another three wickets in the form of Rahul Tewatia, followed by Rashid Khan and Shahrukh Khan. Every wicket scalped, felt like the opposition was crumbling under pressure. What made it even more special was the timing of his strikes. Just when GT were looking to build a partnership, Ashwani stepped in and applied the brakes. He trusted his process and kept the batters constantly guessing as to what would come next. In the end GT were bundled out for 100, as MI won by 99 runs.

Ashwani’s biggest motivator on the given day was skipper Hardik Pandya who ensured he kept talking to the bowler at intervals and planning dismissals. Speaking after the match about the game plan, he said, “Once I went in there, I saw that bowling hard lengths and back of a length deliveries was working, so I kept backing that plan. We were planning to take wickets and after discussing it with Hardik, we executed accordingly.”
Four special wickets, one message…This is just the beginning in Blue and Gold for Ashwani! 💙
