Our director of cricket operations Zaheer Khan attended the pre-match press conference ahead of our clash against Lucknow Super Giants on April 24th.

Zak spoke about what the team’s aims are, the importance of having clarity as a bowler and Rohit Sharma’s form.

On being asked what the team’s aims are, Zak stated that the team will only focus on the upcoming game.

“The season has not been easy so going forward, our focus will be to take each game as it comes, go out there and give our best to win. I have full faith in the squad. We will back each other through and through, the squad is definitely capable of stacking up wins,” he said.

Skipper Rohit Sharma has not been at his best this season but Zak was unperturbed about his form.

“We are not concerned about Rohit’s form. When the team is not able to close out crucial moments, it adds pressure as a captain. I feel he is one game away from a big innings. It’s the responsibility of each individual to go out there and give their best and it’s our role as support staff to keep them in the right space of mind,” he noted.

Zak was also appreciative about the performances of Jaydev Unadkat and emphasized on having clarity as a bowler.

“Bowlers have to stay in the present and have clarity of thought. For Unadkat, he has been contributing with both bat and ball. It’s about fine tuning a few things but it shouldn’t take away from the good work he has done this season. Against CSK, he could not execute the last few deliveries but that can happen. He has to back his instinct and he will be an important player for us this season and he will learn going ahead,” he said.

Those were some positive responses by Zak to a variety of questions and it will be exciting to see how the team performs against LSG at the Wankhede stadium.
