Wholesome India too much for Bangladesh at Holkar

By Mumbai Indians

India registered their sixth consecutive Test win as they defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs within three days in Indore.

We take a closer look at how the game fared.

Mayank Agarwal smashes second double ton

‘Mayank has not come into the team wanting to grab his opportunity but he has come into the team to make the team win’. Proving his skipper absolutely right, the youngster scored his second double ton and registered his highest Test score (243) in Indore to pave way for a massive Indian win. He also hit eight sixes during the course of his knock.

India score 400 in a single day

It was only the third time in Test cricket that India scored over 400 runs in a single day of a Test match. Alongside Mayank’s heroics, it was Ravindra Jadeja who brought up a splendid fifty followed by his trademark sword celebration. Umesh Yadav hit three sixes coming in at No.8 as he batted at a strike rate of 250.

Seamers sizzle

Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma were in phenomenal form with the new ball as they kept the Bangladeshi batsmen on their toes. The introduction of Mohammed Shami didn’t help their cause either. The fact that Ravindra Jadeja bowled just three overs in the first innings displays India’s prowess in the fast bowling department. The pace trio picked 14 of the 20 wickets as Shami led the way with seven under his belt.

Bangladesh clueless

Throughout the Test match, Bangladesh failed to put any kind of pressure on their Indian counterparts. Despite five dropped catches in the first innings, they could only post a total of 150 on the board. On the other hand, leaving Abu Jayad, no one else in the bowling department inspired any confidence. The fact that they lost within three days will largely hurt their mojo.

ICC World Test Championship

India continue to rise in the points table of the ICC World Test Championship. They currently stand at 300 points while the second placed New Zealand have 60 points in their kitty. Bangladesh will have a huge task on their hands as they walk out for the historic day-night Test next. They will not chase their maiden Test win over India but also will look secure points in the Championship.

The second Test match which is going to be a day-night affair is scheduled to begin from the 22nd of November at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
