‘WPL 2026 is the new IPL 2015’ – Our girls’ turn to recreate the trend with a twist

By Mumbai Indians

The ten year anniversary. The eleven year anniversary. 2016. 2015. Yes, WPL 2026 is the new IPL 2015. 💪

IPL 2015. Mumbai Indians had gotten off to the worst possible start, losing the first four games in a row. It got worse when it became five losses in six games. Our backs were firmly to the wall. The general trend was teams needing 16 points to qualify for the playoffs, which meant MI needed to win at least seven in the next eight games.

Steps in a young 22-year-old Hardik Pandya. A superb 61* off just 31 balls against KKR in a virtual knockout helps us seal a narrow five-run win. SRH are then blown away in the final league game. 16 points, secured. Playoffs berth, secured. MI goes into beast mode. The Spirit of MI rises. And IPL title #2 comes home! 📣🏆

WPL 2026. The MI Girls are now in the simply-must-win-everything territory. Two league games. Two wins. And our NRR will take care of itself. And then our MI winning mentality will take care of the rest.

Let’s show just why 2026 is the new 2015! 👊💙
