WPL Match 2 | MIvDC preview: Quickly switching to happy memories with a repeat of 2025 Final clash

By Mumbai Indians

There’s absolutely no time to brood. Yes, the game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru was ours to win and we ended up on the wrong side of a brilliant knock. We’ve slept over it. The next day is here. It’s not just a new day, it is match day.

From young Kamalini setting the tone at the top, to Sajana smashing it around at the death, to Shabnim’s solid opening burst, to Amelia’s collapse-inducing leg-spin, there were plenty of positives for us to take out.

What better way to put a heartbreak behind us than with a quick turnaround, a chance to immediately put it behind us. And it’s another epic clash. The 2025 season’s memories are still fresh in our heads and this is a re-match of the Final. Although the Capitals are sporting a fresh look with a new skipper, the rivalry remains just as iconic, and there’s enough power in either side to ensure fireworks out in the middle.

What: Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals

When: January 10, 2026 | 7:30pm IST

Where: DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai

What to expect: As our Head Coach, Lisa Keightley mentioned after the first game, Hayley Matthews is nearly there. You could be assured of good starts if she was at the top over the last three years. It’s something we missed in the first game. The pitch, is anything, is only going to get better. This is a high-scoring venue, and sixes are usually the currency. And we aren’t short on six-hitters!
