Think pace, think Shabnim Ismail. She’s quick, she’s accurate, she’s deadly.
Widely recognized as the quickest bowler in the world with a top recorded speed of 128kph, Shabnim Ismail made her international debut for South Africa way back in 2006, and for 17 years has carried the mantle of being their spearhead. She’s earned the distinction of being the first South African bowler to pick up 150 WODI wickets and 100 WT20I wickets. Although having recently retired from international cricket in 2023, she’s just as hungry, and just as eager to learn and pass her pearls of wisdom along.
Here's some fun trivia for the Paltan: Shabnim Ismail's jersey number is 89 - as a tribute to her role model, Andre Nel, who was also a part of the Mumbai Indians #OneFamily back in 2008. Nostalgia, brimming!
