Everyone dreams of bagging a wicket off their maiden ball in international cricket. Not everyone gets it though. Lizaad Williams is not everyone.
Off the very first ball he bowled against Ireland on his ODI debut in 2021, Andy McBrine was sent back nicking to the keeper!
Raw pace and accuracy is a deadly combo, and Lizaad has it in plenty. He broke into the scene in 2012 at the under-19 World Cup, and over the last 12 years, he’s transformed from being just a tearaway quick to a reliable wicket-taker for his team.
Just when he was set to take showcase his skills in Blue and Gold, an unfortunate injury setback ruled him out of TATA IPL 2025. He was replaced by his fellow countryman Corbin Bosch.
Here's wishing you a recovery as pacy as your deliveries, Lizaad!
