1000 wickets (and counting): You legend, Piyush Chawla!

By Mumbai Indians

It almost feels like he’s been around forever. That’s because he is. The almost kid-like-looking leggie who made his First Class debut in 2005-06, who starred in India’s under-19 World Cup campaign at the age of 16, cleaned up the great Sachin Tendulkar in the Challenger Trophy in the same year and burst into the Indian national side, is now a certified legend.

He's seen two generations of cricketers come and go, the advent of T20 cricket, the growth of the IPL, the transformation of the game, and through it all, has kept himself relevant, and always in demand. In the process now, he has pocketed 1000 career wickets (and counting).

22 of these wickets came in the stellar IPL 2023 season he had with Mumbai Indians, where his experience shone through as he outfoxed batters with his entire bunch of tricks. He’s now a year wiser, and come IPL 2024, should be all set to continue bamboozling oppositions. Congratulations on the mega milestone, Piyush!
