Bowlers dominate the day in Mumbai Indians’ MI Junior tournament

It was the bowlers who called the shots in the Mumbai and Nagpur leg of the MI Junior cricket tournament on Tuesday. Six and five wicket hauls stole the show through the day, though Aryan Selokar (179) and Aryan Pardhi (137) scored sensational centuries to highlight the few notable performances with the bat.

Both the batsmen struck tons to enable The South Public School to a total of 399/2 in 37 overs and cruise to 335-run win over GH Raisoni CBSE in the Boys Under-16 category at Buddha Park in Nagpur.

Rest, it was a day that belonged to the bowlers. Vivaan Sanghani of Ryan International School, Chembur scalped six wickets, helping his team thrash SIES High School, Matunga by eight wickets in the Under-14 Boys match at MB Union, Cross Maidan in Mumbai.

Player of the Match, Sanghani's destructive bowling spell helped Ryan International to bowl out SIES batsmen for just 40 runs in 11 overs. Ryan chased the low score in just 6.3 overs after losing two wickets.

Further in the Mumbai matches, Ankit Yadav of Anjuman-I-Islam English School, Vashi stole the show with his sensational five-wicket haul in the match against St. Stanislaus High School, Bandra eventually winning the U-16 Boys' match comfortably by six wickets at Parsee Cyclist, Azad Maidan.

In another exciting match in the Boys' U-16 category at the Azad Maidan, Seven Square's bowler Somesh Yadav stunned St. Aloysius High School batsmen with his five-wicket haul. Aditya Kashyap also took three wickets as Aloysius were bowled out for 138 in 25.1 overs.

Kashyap went on to score 42 runs in a successful chase which helped him take home the 'Player of the match' title.

In Nagpur, Arjoo Shivankar and Shreyas Mhaisekar also bagged six-wicket hauls to star in their respective team victories.

At Nelco Ground 2, in the Girls U-16 category match, Arjoo's accurate bowling helped her team Siddheshwar Vidyalaya to bowl out Podar International for 89 runs and chase the score with ease to register an emphatic nine-wicket win.

In the U-14 Boys category at Taiwade Ground, Mhaisekar took six wickets to bowl out Delhi Public School, Kampthi for just 81 runs to easily defend his team's total of 201/9 in 40 overs.
