I spend a lot of time trying to hit sixes in training: Tim David

Tim David answered questions in the pre-match press conference ahead of our clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 17th.
The big hitter outlined his training processes, the mentality of a finisher and how he worked on himself during the time he was not in the team.
On being asked about how he prepares for the power-hitting role, which is one of the toughest roles in a line-up, David revealed that he tries to get the big hits in during net sessions.
“I spend a lot of time in the nets trying to hit sixes and try to put pressure on the bowlers. You have to pick your moments to do the power-hitting - it is risky and it may not come off every time. You have to make sure you practice well and carry that confidence into the game,” explained David.
“The pitches are getting slower as well and I love that challenge. Once you are in the game, power hitting is all about the mental aspect. You try to be as consistent as possible and try to stick to your process, which brings the best results. ”
Tim David also went through a period where he was not a part of the playing XI but he took that in his stride and used the time to acclimatise himself to Indian conditions.
“When I was out of the team, it was an opportunity for me to work really hard in the gym and in training and get used to the conditions here. It made me ready to take my chance when it came,” he said.
And now that he is reaping the benefits of that hard work, he is hoping to carry that in the rest of the games and beyond.
“There are a lot of young guys trying to find their feet. We have had a taste of how to be successful in the Tata IPL and we can use this experience to come back stronger next year,” he stated.
The precise answers clearly reflect Tim David’s confidence ahead of matchday and it would be exciting to see how he and the team perform against SRH.
