Hitman shines against UAE
The road to India’s fourth victory started, when UAE won the toss and elected to bat. The Indian bowlers got to work from the 1st ball itself and gave no quarter to the UAE batsmen. Jasprit Bumrah was right at the mark from the start and started his spell with some tight bowling! Bhuveneshwar kumar bowled well to get his first breakthrough and was soon followed by followed by Shahazad who was picked up by Bumrah. Even though there was nothing riding on this game, this was the last chance for UAE to salvage some pride after bad performances in previous matches. However it seemed that the UAE batsmen weren’t keen on even trying.
The match saw the return of Harbhajan Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and debutant Pawan Negi who spent 11 overs and picked up 4 wickets for only 35 runs between them. Negi’s first international wicket went off on his fifth ball during his spell, as Usman scooped a catch to Harbhajan at long-off. Negi returned the favour in the next over when Harbhajan tempted Javed into flicking uppishly towards midwicket. The crowd witnessed the vintage Harbhajhan Singh, looping the ball in the air and tempting the batsmen to play a false shot.
Anwar was the only Batsman who performed for UAE, being one of the two batsmen to make a double figure score of 43 runs from 48 balls and hitting the first UAE Six in the match. However he was dismissed by Dhoni during a run out by over 19.5. UAE closed at 81/9 (20.0 Overs). Bumrah Pandya and Harbhajhan were inspirational with the ball.
India’s Innings was pretty straight forward as the Indian batsmen had their task cu-out. Rohit Sharma was in a hurry to head back to the hotel, he smashed the UAE bowlers all around the park and scored 39 runs from 28 balls. He was dismissed but the team finished the chase with 59 balls to spare.
India versus UAE can barely be described as a contest. UAE didn’t put up much of a fight and all India had to do was play casual to gain a nine-wicket victory. In terms of balls remaining, it was India’s biggest win in T20Is so far.
