#PBKSvMI report | Another SKY special, but a tiny stutter… Eliminator it is!

By Mumbai Indians

A challenging day in the Pink City saw the boys go down by seven wickets to finish fourth in the points table and confirm their spot in the Eliminator.

Put in to bat first, Suryakumar Yadav’s fifty coupled with a collective effort from other batters powered us to a competitive 184/7 in 20 overs. 🙌

In reply, the Punjab Kings, anchored by Priyansh Arya (62) and Josh Inglis (73), chased the total down in 18.3 overs. Here’s what went down at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium…

Rocket Ryan + HITMAN = Powerplay sorted

How many times have we seen Rickelton go 🔥 right from the beginning?!

Well, today was no different! The southpaw collected a few boundaries, transferring the heat to the opposition bowlers before departing for a 20-ball 27.

At the other end, RO overcame a <little> slow start to get into the groove and set the tone for the rest of the innings.

📝 #MI – 52/1 (6 overs)

Surya dada 👉 J̷h̷u̷k̷e̷g̷a̷ rukega nahi!

Safe to say, आपला SKY has been in classsss form throughout the campaign and soon, he broke one more record…

In the ninth over, he surpassed the 25-run mark for the 14th consecutive time this season, the most in the history of T20 cricket! 👏

No part of the ground was spared as he went about his 🤩 shots, keeping our scoreboard ticking at a steady rate. Meanwhile, Will Jacks came in and played a quickfire 17 off eight balls before an unfortunate dismissal.

📝 #MI – 106/4 (12.3 overs)

Clutch it is!

It’s tough to keep HP quiet for a long time, isn’t it?!

Arriving in the 13th over, Hardik quickly skip-ed to the good part and smashed two fours and sixes apiece en route to a 15-ball 26. From 106/4 to 150/5, Paltan rejoiced some 🤌 hits in the Pink City!

📝 #MI – 150/5 (16.2 overs)

Strong conclusion ft. SKY & Naman!

26 runs came in the last two overs, with the duo yet again capitalising at the death to guide their side to 184/7.

In the process, Surya completed his half-century, finishing at 57 (39), graced with six fours and two maximums. 💪

Who else but BOOM?

Our gendbaaz kept it tight in the Powerplay phase, with Deepak Chahar bowling a maiden over.

The pressure finally paid off as Bumrah accounted for the first breakthrough, getting the better of Prabsimran Singh in his very first over! ✅

📝 #PBKS – 47/1 (6 overs)

Umm, not the middle-overs phase we wanted…

Following an ordinary powerplay, PBKS pulled things back courtesy of a match-winning 109-run partnership between Priyansh Arya and Josh Inglis, both of whom registered their respective half-centuries.

Priyansh’s wicket in the 15th over didn’t really turn things around. PBKS completed the run chase in the 19th over to emerge victorious by seven wickets.

Paltan, it’s not over. We go in with renewed vigour in the Eliminator on 30th May. For now, it’s time to get back to the drawing board and tick all the boxes. We believe.
