Jasprit Bumrah: I decided to bowl the yorker early and it came off
Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by 57 runs in the first Qualifier at the Dubai International Stadium. The win propelled them into the Dream11 IPL 2020 final.
This is the sixth occasion of MI making it into the IPL final. Also the defending champions, MI now have a golden opportunity of retaining the trophy.
Jasprit Bumrah who received the Man of the Match for his 4/14 shared his thoughts at the post-match presentation ceremony. Skipper Rohit Sharma was also quite elated with the team’s all-round performance.
Jasprit Bumrah: I'm okay with not taking wickets and winning the tournament
“I'm okay with not taking wickets and winning the tournament. Not at all looking at the Purple Cap list. I'm always on my toes and in the game. I don't focus on things I can't control. I take it ball-by-ball. I decided I will bowl the yorker early in the game and when it comes off, it's always nice.”
“Boult and I keep talking all the time. We share a great camaraderie. We discuss fields, situations, so there's a lot to learn from him. I'm not much of an awards guy. But I'm keeping an eye and they're batsman loving panelists.”
Rohit Sharma: Bumrah and Boult have been in solid form
“The way Surya and Quinton gave us momentum was great. The way we bowled was satisfying. Perfect result for us. We just wanted to have a good powerplay and then take it from there. We have the power to accelerate at the end. We wanted Ishan to be positive. He's got a solid six-hitting ability. The message to Krunal and Ishan was not to be afraid.”
“I haven't seen Boult and he looks okay. He'll be fine in the next few days and back in the park on the 10th. With Bumrah, I don't talk too much. He just executes his plans perfectly. Bumrah and Boult have been in solid form. They play for different teams so they have different plans. We as a team have different plans and it's great to see them execute those.”
Suryakumar Yadav: Personal milestones are important but what matters is what the team requires
“Considering the dew factor, we wanted to be positive. At the end of the day, I really enjoy how I batted today. It gives a lot of freedom to me when I go to bat at the top order. But at the same time, take responsibility and bat as deep as I can. Not thinking about 500 runs. Personal milestones are important but what matters is what the team requires. Currently, I will say that we want to enjoy the night, and when the final comes, we'll take it from there.”
