Mahela: Rohit Sharma has played a massive role in how MI has evolved

By Mumbai Indians

As Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals on Sunday, Rohit Sharma became the second MI cricketer to represent them in 150 IPL matches.

The 33-year old has maintained his supremacy not only as a captain but also with the bat. Other than leading the team to four IPL trophies, he has also been MI's highest run-getter with the bat.

Head Coach Mahela Jayawardene and Team Manager Rahul Sanghvi applauded him on the occasion.

Mahela: Rohit has made Mumbai proud

The Head Coach spoke in detail about Rohit's contribution to Mumbai Indians. From not winning the coveted trophy for the first five years to then going on to win four times in the next seven years, MI has had a roller-coaster ride in IPL.

"It’s an amazing feat. Pollard just completed it a few games back. These two guys have been amazing. Ro, being the leader, it’s not an easy task when you’re captaining a side and being the main batsman as well at the same time."

"How this franchise has evolved over the years, I think he has played a massive role in that. 150 games is a lot of games. So, he’s done well. He has made Mumbai very proud."

Sanghvi: Rohit won't take anything less than the best

Team manager Rahul Sanghvi who has been a part of MI for a long time spoke highly about the leadership qualities of Hitman.

"Whatever is said about Rohit Sharma won’t be enough for Mumbai Indians. The qualities that he’s brought to the MI team. He’s a leader, and he won’t take anything less than the best."

"It’s still not the end. I believe it’s going to be 100 more games before he can think of something else. I wish him all the best for another 100 games here."
