MI Junior 2024: It's R.R. Education Trust vs Al-Barkaat Malik Muhammad Islam English School in Boys’ U16 final

Om Rajesh Bhabal (4 for 20) shone for R.R. Education Trust (Mulund) as they bowled out Shardashram Vidyamandir (Dadar) for just 129 runs in an MI Junior Boys’ Under-16 semi-final clash in Mumbai on Tuesday. In response, R.R. Education chased down the target in 32.5 overs, thanks to a well-made 65 by Smin Kini.

In the other semi-final, Al-Barkaat Malik Muhammad Islam English School (Kurla) narrowly escaped to a 2-wicket victory against Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English School.

Batting first, Parle Tilak were skittled out for a measly 130, with Yuvraj Chetan Patil (3 for 18) being the chief destroyer for Al-Barkaat. Parle Tilak then put up a tough fight, sending eight of Al-Barkaat’s batters back to the dugout. Al-Barkaat eventually prevailed in 35.2 overs, with Varad Magar (25*) seeing them through with just two wickets in hand.

Meanwhile, in a Boys’ Under-14 quarter-final in Mumbai, Kushal Kiran Patil (195 off 114) smashed an elegant ton to drive Matunga Premier School to an impressive 293/6 in 40 overs against VPMS Vidyamandir (Dahisar). VPMS were then bundled out for 144 runs, with Animesh Ghorpade (4 for 22) doing the bulk of the damage.

In another Boys’ Under-14 quarter-final in Mumbai, Vedant Gore (3-30) struck thrice to dismiss National English School (Virar) for 98 runs. In reply, opponents Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School (CSMT) sailed to victory in 27 overs, courtesy an unbeaten half-century by Abdur Rahman Khan (59* off 74).
