MI Junior 2026: Opening Day Drama as Inaugural Encounter between Shardashram Vidyamandir and St. Rocks ends in an Exhilarating Tie

The presence of esteemed dignitaries like Paras Mhambrey, a worship and celebration of the sport of cricket, centuries, 5-wicket hauls, dominant performances and nail-biting encounters, the inaugural day of the 6th Season of MI Junior had it all.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) Ground at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) bore witness to one of the most adrenaline-enticing encounters, the tournament has ever seen. The opening match itself, between Shardashram Vidyamandir International School and St. Rocks High School ended in an exhilarating tie in a Girls Under-15 match of the Mumbai Indians Junior School Cricket Tournament 2026.

After opting to bat, St. Rocks High School posted a competitive total of 148/5 after the end of their 20 overs, riding on the back of crucial cameos from Drishi Hingarh (43 n.o) and Reet Rai (41). Chasing a modest target of 149, Shardashram Vidyamandir lost wickets in heaps as they were reduced to 41/5 at one stage. However, just when things seemed to be drifting away from Shardashram Vidyamandir, Shriya Ambokar and Maitrayee Ambolkar forged an invaluable 101-run stand, with the former going on to score an unbeaten half-century.

With just 2 runs required in the last over, a historic win seemed certain for Shardashram Vidyamandir, but it was not to be so. Reet Rai backed up her heroics with bat in the first innings with of the greatest overs under tremendous pressure. Reet’s clinical bowling saw her pick up 2 wickets while conceding just a single off the last over and thus led to a nerve-wrecking tie.

In the Under-16 Boys category, Anjuman-I-Islam registered an authoritative victory over Ryan International School by an annihilating 332-run margin. After electing to bat, Anjuman-I-Islam lost 2 wickets in quick succession before Akshai Nair and Satyam Nair constructed a domineering 229-run partnership as both batters went on to score centuries. Arya Mali (34) and Deep Kanojiya (47) kept the momentum going as their pyrotechnic propelled Anjuman-I-Islam to a daunting total of 377 runs.

In reply, Ryan International School were bundled out for merely 45 runs as Rajveersinh Surve picked up a 5-wicket haul to hand Anjuman-I-Islam a dominant and commanding victory.

  1. Tarapur Vidya Mandir (Palghar) vs Sane Guruji English Medium School (Dadar)

Tarapur Vidya Mandir raced to a resounding 10-wicket win against Sane Guruji English Medium School. Batting first, Sane Guruji English Medium School could only salvage 95 runs before being bowled out due to the economical bowling of Nimish Dev (4/18) and Smit Meher (3/14). In the second innings, Vihang Akre’s unbeaten 56 propelled Tarapur Vidya Mandir to a well-deserved victory.

  1. Dnyandeep Seva Mandal (Nerul) vs IES New English School (Bandra)

Dnyandeep Seva Mandal dominated IES New English School to register a commanding 9-wicket victory. Onir Singh (4/13) spearheaded the bowling attack as he received able support from Aryan Chauhan (3/18), to bundle out IES New English School for just 79 runs. Chasing a comfortable victory, Dynandeep Seva Mandal’s opener Atharv Kalel took matters into his own hands, scoring an attacking and unbeaten half-century.

Chasing a modest target, Sitaram Prakash High School eased to a comfortable victory courtesy a well-crafted knock worth 57 runs by opener Arish Khan.

  1. General Education Academy (Chembur) vs Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School (BKC)

General Education Academy recorded a comprehensive win over Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School by a margin of 9 wickets. Laksh Bhargava’s impressive 6-wicket haul alongside Shreyans Singh’s (3/19) clinical bowling, restricted Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School to merely 73 runs. In the second innings, opener Jay Gaikwad’s commanding knock of 35 runs, sealed a well-deserved victory for General Education Academy.

KC Gandhi English School came out trumps against Shardashram Vidyamandir International School by a thrilling margin of just 6 runs. In the first innings, KC Gandhi English School were bowled out for 132 runs as Aryan Jadhav tore through the batting with an impressive 5-wicket haul. Chasing 133, Shardashram Vidyamandir International School came agonisingly close and were eventually bundled out for 126 runs, courtesy some disciplined bowling of Yash Kharade (4/33) and Samyak Jadhav (3/34).

  1. Modern English School (Chembur) vs S.T Kadam High School (Palghar)

Modern English School emerged triumphant as they defeated S.T Kadam High School by a dominant margin of 65 runs. After electing to bat first, Modern English School posted a respectable score of 200 as Rajvardhan Jadhav top-scored with a well-complied knock of 54 runs. Despite the valiant efforts of Neel Bhanushali (63), S.T Kadam High School were outclassed by the bowling of Shaurya Ketan and Lakshya Bhor as they picked 3 wickets apiece.

  1. Swami Vivekanand International School (Borivali) vs Chembur Karnataka School

Swami Vivekanand International School marched past Chembur Karnataka School with a comprehensive 6-wicket victory. Batting first, Viraj Patil’s unbeaten knock of 82 runs powered Chembur Karnataka School to 196 before being bowled out. Chasing a decent total, Swami Vivekanand International School cruised to a well-deserved win as opener Harshit Bobade went on to amass an elegant, unbeaten century.

  1. Sitaram Prakash High School (Wadala) vs General Education Academy (Chembur)

Sitaram Prakash High School registered a commanding 61-run win against General Education Academy. After opting to bat, Sitaram Prakash High School salvaged a respectable total of 201 runs, courtesy some handy contributions from Aayush Shete (49), Pugazh Sundarraj (39) and Yash Jagtap (29). IES VN Sule Guruji English Medium High School registered a dominant 10-wicket win over Central Railway School. In the first innings, Jay Mhatre wreaked havoc with ball in hand as he picked up a 5-wicket haul, enabling IES VN Sule School to bowl out Central Railway School for 75 runs. On the batting front, Swarn Katkar starred for IES VN Sule School as he scored a prolific and unbeaten half-century.

IES New English School eased past Matunga Premier School to record a convincing 8-wicket victory. Despite the best efforts of Chinmay Anjarlekar (34), Matunga Premier School were bundled out for 115 runs as Nikhil Gurav led the charge with a 5-wicket haul while receiving admirable support from Shivraj Thorat (3/21). IES New English School cruised to a comfortable win as Vedang Mishra top-scored with an unbeaten innings worth 42 runs.

  1. Anjuman-I-Islam School (Fort) vs Ryan International School (Goregaon)

Anjuman-I-Islam School demolished Ryan Internation School by a pulverising margin of 332 runs. Twin centuries from Akshai Nair (127) and Satyam Yadav (105) propelled Anjuman-I-Islam to a towering total of 377 for the loss of 6 wickets in their stipulated 40 overs. In the second innings, Rajveersinh Surve shone with ball in hand as he scalped 5 wickets to bowl out Ryan International School for a lowly score of just 45 runs.

In what turned out to be an enthralling contest, Shardashram Vidyamandir’s match against St. Rocks High School resulted in a tie. National English School dominated St. Columba School to register a comprehensive 7-wicket win. After electing to bat first, St. Columba School were bundled out for merely 68 runs as Aanshu Pal (3/4) spearheaded the bowling attack as she received applaudable support from Sona Singh (3/14) and Saumya Chavan (2/17). Chasing just 69 runs to win, Aanshu Pal top-scored to cap a brilliant all-round effort and led to a comfortable victory for National English School.

  1. KEM High School (Kanjurmarg) vs Chhatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School

KEM High School annihilated Chhatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School to register a crushing 301-run victory. Batting first, KEM High School posted a daunting total of 352 in their stipulated 20 overs, as the top 4 consisting of Mysha Agwqn (92 n.o), Ananya Mourya (66 n.o), Avani Vengurlekar (60), Khushi Goswami (43) went on to score big. Chasing 352, Chhatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School could only salvage 51 runs while losing 6 wickets, handing KEM High School a resounding win.

Vasant Vihar High School cruised to a commanding 6-wicket victory over Sane Guruji English Medium School. Delisha Angchekar’s immaculate bowling saw her completely control the first innings as her 3 wickets were the primary reason behind Sane Guruji English Medium School being bowled out for 91 runs.
