MI Junior: VPMS Vidya Mandir, SV International School, Parag English School register wins

VPMS Vidya Mandir (Dahisar), Swami Vivekanand International School (Kandivali), Parag English School (Bhandup) and others registered victories in the respective matches in different categories of the ongoing MI junior Inter-school cricket tournament on Wednesday.

Left-arm spinner Jash Nayak (5-1) took a sensational 5-wicket haul to bowl out Ryan International School for a paltry 17. In response, VPMS Vidya Mandir (Dahisar) chased down the target in just two overs in an highly one-sided MI Junior Boys’ Under-14 league match at the Oval Maidan.

Elsewhere, Swami Vivekanand International School (Kandivali) scored an emphatic 482-run victory thanks to a century by Swapnil Verma (100 off 76), which helped them set a mammoth target of 503. Aryansh Singh (6 for 10) then starred with the ball to bowl out RJ Thakor High School (Thane) for a measly 20 runs in 7.4 overs in a Boys' Under-14 match.

In the Boys' U-16 category, Hriman Rakhunde (146 off 121) shone with the bat with a brilliant century to give Parag English School (Bhandup) a comfortable 272-run victory against The Scholars English High School (Bhiwandi), who were bowled out for 67 while chasing the target of 340 runs.

Meanwhile, St. Columba School won by walkover against Ryan International School (Kharghar) in a Girl's U-15 match. The other match in the same category saw Pawar Public School (Bhandup) beat St. Anne's Convent School (Vasai) by 9 wickets courtesy an all-round performance by Ishita Shetty (2 wickets and 28 runs).

In a Boy's U-14 match, SES High School (Thane) thrashed SIWS High School (Wadala) by 10 wickets after blowing them out for meagre 28 runs. Om Salekar took 3 wickets for SES.

Riding on Sourish Deshpande's brilliant all-round performance (96 runs and 2 wickets), Lakshdham High School (Goregaon) beat KC Gandhi English School (Kalyan) by 3 wickets in a Boy's U-16 match. In another match of the same category, Dhyey Chhadwa ( 3 wickets and 51 runs) guided Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vidyalaya (Vikhroli) to a seven wicket win over Jamnabai Narsee School (Vile Parle).

Swami Vivekanand High School (Chembur) beat NL Dalmia High School (Mira Road) by seven wickets in a Boys U-14 match. Rajveer Lad, with his 4 wickets, was the star performer for Swami Vivekanand High School. In a one sided contest in Boy's U-16 match,  Sri Ma Vidyalaya (Thane) hammered St Xaviers High School (Virar) by nice wickets, thanks to Aditya Kaulagi's 4 wickets.

On the other hand, N G Vartak English School (Virar) suffered a crushing nine wicket loss against Oxford Public School (Kandivali) after getting bowled out for 94 runs. Neel Koli scored crucial 41 runs for Oxford in the run chase.

Aayush Rogye's all-round performance (36 runs and 3 wickets) led St Paul High School (Dadar) to an impressive 58-run win over Guruji English Medium School (Dadar) in a Boy's U-16 match. In another contest of the same category, IES High School (Navi Mumbai) beat Pawar Public School (Bhandup) by 3 wickets, courtesy Sayyed Mohammad's 4 wickets.
