MI's Dream11 IPL journey in numbers

By Mumbai Indians

As MI concluded their IPL campaign with another trophy in their cabinet, we take you through a statistical tour of the Dream11 IPL 2020 season.

Team Stats

Mumbai Indians became the first-ever team to win 5 IPL trophies. This also took their overall tally to seven titles, having won the Champions League on two separate occasions, i.e. 2011 and 2013. This was also the first instance of MI successfully defending their title.

MI had the most sixes in this IPL season with a total of 137 maximums. The men in Blue and Gold also held the record for the most wickets during powerplay with 31 scalps. This often allowed them to capitalize early against their opposition.

Individual Stats

Rohit Sharma became the first-ever captain to score fifties in two different IPL finals. He scored 50 (26) against CSK in 2015 and 68 (51) vs DC in 2020. During the tournament, he achieved various milestones like crossing 5000 runs, 200 sixes, and 200 matches in IPL. He is now the only player to win the IPL in three different countries (South Africa, India, and UAE) and during three different decades (2009, 2013/15/17/19, 2020).

Quinton de Kock became the second MI cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar to score 500 plus runs in consecutive seasons. The wicketkeeper-batsman aggregated 529 runs in 2019 and 503 runs in 2020. He also had 22 dismissals including four stumpings which was the highest in Dream11 IPL 2020.

Ishan Kishan went on to win the Most Sixes award. Throughout the tournament, the youngster hit 30 sixes. His tally of 516 runs in the IPL are also the most by an uncapped Indian player surpassing his teammate Suryakumar who scored 512 runs back in 2018. He went on to lead the run-scoring charts for MI this season.

Suryakumar Yadav became the highest run-scorer in IPL as an uncapped player with 2024 runs in his kitty. He also has the most runs by an MI cricketer since the 2018 edition. It was also the first time for any franchise that two uncapped cricketers i.e. Ishan and Suryakumar scored above 450 runs in the same season.

Earlier in the tournament, Kieron Pollard became the first MI cricketer to represent them in 150 IPL matches. The all-rounder has been a part of the franchise since 2010. He held the highest strike rate of 191.43 this season. Pollard also crossed the 3000-run mark for MI in IPL. He has the second-highest aggregate for Mumbai after Rohit.

Trent Boult was a force to reckon, especially with the new ball. The left-arm pacer picked a total of 16 wickets during the powerplay this season. He went on to equal Mitchell Johnson's tally of most wickets in the powerplay back in the 2013 edition. However, eight of his wickets came in the first over which is a record in IPL.

This was Jasprit Bumrah's best performance in an IPL season. His tally of 27 wickets is the best by any Indian bowler in a single season. During the tournament, he also went past 100 IPL wickets and became the third MI bowler to do so.
