Test specialists return to face Bangladesh in Indore

By Mumbai Indians

How many times have you seen a completely new side taking the field when formats change? Do you know how many members from the T20I series-winning team are a part of India’s Test squad? Think while you read our preview.

Following an interesting battle in the shortest format, both teams will switch gears as they take on each other in a two-match Test series. While India are the No.1 ranked Test side in the world, Bangladesh are placed at the ninth position.

Here are the five talking points ahead of the first Test:

Rohit Sharma - Looking to continue from where he left

After a dream start as a Test opener in the South Africa series, Rohit Sharma will be looking to build his reputation at the top. He plundered 529 runs in the series, more notably at a  remarkable strike rate. Bangladesh will surely have plans because if Hitman gets going, it will be difficult to stop him.

Finding form - Ashwin & Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane announced his arrival to form with a fantastic series against West Indies and the Proteas. The right-hander who is just 25 short of completing 4000 runs in Test cricket, had scored a spectacular 188 at the same ground three years back. On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin raked up bowling figures of 6/81 and 7/59 at the Holkar stadium last India played there.

Good memories of the Holkar Stadium

Other than the above-mentioned duo, Virat Kohli scored a double century here as well. Cheteshwar Pujara had a wonderful outing too - scoring a century here. India had defeated New Zealand by a big margin. So the hosts will be confident when they take the field on November 14 too.

Another chance to create history for Bangladesh

After their first-ever T20I win against India, Bangladesh have another chance of creating history against India, this time in the traditional format. Both teams have encountered each other nine times out of which India has emerged victorious in seven games while twice it has ended in a draw.

ICC World Test Championship

Both teams will have their eyes set on the ICC World Test Championship. Each Test match in this series will hold 60 points. Currently, India are leading the points table with 240 points while Bangladesh are yet to open their account.

Answer to the question we asked right at the start - Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant are the only two players in this Test squad who were a part of the Indian team which won the T20I series 2-1.

The first Test Match at the Holkar Stadium in Indore is scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM IST from the 14th of November
