From Sri Lanka to the Telangana T20 League (TG20), one name keeps finding its way all along on the merit card, that of our very own Tilak Varma. His bat did all the talking while his captaincy ensured India A lifted the champion’s crown at the end of the Tri Nation A series final recently. TV adapted well…different opponents, formats, big responsibility and the result remained the same - runs, impact and victories. He is a special player, who has the knack of turning pressure into performances and expectations into results. Indeed, he was the heartbeat of the India A side, with a hallmark and ability to learn and evolve into one of the best that Indian cricket has produced. 🔥

Consistency is not built in a single innings; it is forged over time. Over the years, he has turned every challenge into opportunity. Showing sparks during the IPL for us at Mumbai Indians, to then capping off a remarkable stretch that showcased the full spectrum of his brilliance. During the recent away Tri series, he notched up four half tons in style. Starting the campaign off with a 60 against the Lankan A side, then came a 66 versus the Afghan A side. He ended the tournament on a high with 59 and then a well-earned 67 in the final. 👏

What sets terrific Tilak apart is his mindset on field, never rushed or rattled, always has the ability to read the situation before deciding whether to attack or play along the ground. Rebuilding after early wickets or accelerating when the platform is set, he always trusts his game plan and backs his instinct. His blend of clarity and confidence makes him a dependable player across formats. 

Leading a young squad in unfamiliar territory, he marshalled the side smartly, backing every player and ensuring they stayed focused at all times. Under his watchful eyes, India A found ways to win key moments…he was the glue that held everyone together. 💪

The transition from ODI cricket to the rapid TG20 could have been a challenge…but not for Tilak. The ability to switch formats without missing a beat separates the very best from the rest. TV transformed from the dependable architect of India A’s ODI success into the massive T20 swashbuckling batter. 259 to chase, and he puts his hand up, switching gears he slammed a fearless 136* in just 56 deliveries, accompanied with 14 fours and seven humongous sixes to seal the deal for his side Medak Falcons.

Paltan, the future of Indian cricket is safe and secure: four fifties, one trophy and a blazing century last night. The recent weeks are a clear indication that Tilak Varma continues to find ways to shine! 💙
