Japan, you were indeed the land of gold rush not just for our women’s team, but also for our Men in Blue. Team INDIA, led by Shreyas Iyer saved their best for the most important clash on the biggest stage. Powering through their Asian Games campaign, they finished with a statement win in the gold medal clash. From their first challenge, to the final roar, our team showed composure, character and plenty of fire. We have done it again…India clinched back-to-back Asian Games gold, in 2023 and now 2026.

From adapting to tricky conditions to navigating rain interruptions, from a commanding semi-final win to a high voltage final versus Pakistan. The boys ticked every box during this key tournament and were ultimately rewarded with the sparkling gold around their necks. A final worth remembering for a long time to come.

Our very own Tilak Varma put his hand up and delivered for the side when it mattered the most. Stylish, elegant and smashing monster hits out of the park during a crucial juncture in the game, made TV the ultimate star during the final. It was a statement of intent on the biggest stage. He brought the spark and flourish, which will stay in our minds forever.    

India won the final by 19 runs. Batting first, India notched up a mammoth 211/6 in 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma gave the side a perfect start 61(28) with three fours and seven sixes. TV with his magical touch, smashed a quick fire 51*(22), laced with three fours and four sixes, SR-231.82. In reply, Pakistan ended with 192/6 in 20 overs. Axar Patel 2/29, Washington Sundar 2/29 and Shivam Dube 2/33.

Previously in the semi-final, India grabbed a massive 124 runs win against Sri Lanka. India batted first and made 169/7 in 20 overs. Ishan Kishan starred with the bat with an unbeaten 80. In reply, the opposition was bundled out for 45 in 9.5 overs. Boom Boom Bumrah, Axar Patel and Abhishek Sharma all picked two wickets each.

Through every step of this journey, the fans were right there with them. From stands in Japan to screens back home, the Indian supporters cheered louder than ever… even from thousands of miles apart.
