I want to do something crazy for MI: Renzo Rosso

By Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians and Diesel have partnered to launch a limited edition collection. The apparel will consist of off-field merchandise like denims, polos, T-shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, shirts and accessories such as suspenders and caps. The collection was launched in Mumbai by Nita Ambani (Owner of Mumbai Indians), Renzo Rosso (Founder of DIESEL) and MI captain, Rohit Sharma. Mr Rosso was asked a few questions regarding the collaboration, and what it meant to him personally.

Q) What attracted Diesel to cricket and Mumbai Indians?
A) It’s fantastic. Cricket players are icons. A lot of it starts through social networking. A lot of our consumers love them. I discovered how beautiful the game of cricket is. It’s very long and you can sit with families and its entertainment, which is very much part of the Diesel mentality.

Q) What are your aspirations from the collaborative effort?
A) We have just created the collection. Now we will discover just how important the stars that play for MI are. I want it to become something very strong. Diesel is a very brave brand. We have done crazy things for AC Milan, for whom we are the styling partner. We have changed the way the soccer players dress and on the next collection I want to do something very crazy for MI.

Q) What was it like seeing MI captain Rohit Sharma dressed in Diesel?
A) I was very surprised when I had a conversation with him and found out that he is a Diesel fan. He remembered the name of all our pairs of jeans. I was very surprised to know how much he loves our brand. He is a very nice guy. Even this makes me happy to be part of the MI family.
