WPL weekly star-tracker (Dec 23): Harman back with a BANG and #JustHayleyThings

By Mumbai Indians

It’s the post-Auction week, and we have the full buffet for you, from Tests, to T20Is, to ODIs to some domestic cricket. Let’s get going..

India vs West Indies, T20Is and ODIs

Harmanpreet Kaur: She was battling a knee niggle, but in a brave display of strength, she fought through the pain and applied the finishing touches to India’s innings in the first T20I at the DY Patil Stadium. Although forced to miss out on the rest of the T20 series, she was back for the ODIs, and how! A 23-ball 34, filled with typical power and strokeplay to lift India to a strong total, and then some super captaincy to seal a whopping 211-run win.

S Sajana: With the Indian top-order doing the bulk of the heavylifting in the three T20s, Sajana, sadly, hasn’t had much of a chance with the bat. She’s had just the four ball to face, and in the second T20I, she smacked a four off the only ball she faced in the Indian innings to finish it on a high. Her bowling has been impressive though, getting through her spell in the middle overs economically.

Hayley Matthews: She may have been blowing hot and cold through the series, but in the one game where she in her zone, she absolutely stole the game from India. #JustHayleyThings In the second T20, she kept India to a gettable total of 159/9 with a tidy spell of 2/36, getting dangerous wickets of Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues. As if that wasn’t enough, she took it up a notch with the bat, smashing an unbeaten 85 to seal the chase inside 16 overs!

South Africa vs England, Test

Nat Sciver-Brunt: Our legend is back doing what she does best – making more history. Against South Africa in the only Test at Bloemfontein, she set the stage with a 128-run knock in the first innings, scoring it a quick strike-rate of 88, and batting the home side out of the game in the process.

Nadine de Klerk: A game she’d like to quickly forget. A couple of ducks with the bat and just the one wicket with the ball. Trust her to bounce back strong!

Chloe Tryon: She fought hard with the bat in the first innings (20), forming some sort of a recovery with Sune Luus. It wasn’t to be enough though, as was also a victim in Lauren Bell’s superb eight-wicket match haul.

Women’s under-19 Asia Cup

G Kamalini: The newest sensation is setting the tournament on fire. She made her debut and bagged the Player of the Match against Pakistan with a 29-ball 44. Against Sri Lanka, she churned out a mature 26-ball 28 to anchor India’s chase of 103 amidst a mini collapse.
