You will get big runs when it matters: Yuvraj to Rohit

By Mumbai Indians

Moments after Rohit Sharma broke the record for the most number of centuries in a single World Cup, he was sent to address the press. The Indian opener was not shy from revealing that he spoke to his Mumbai Indians teammate, Yuvraj during the IPL which cheered him up for the biggest stage in the sport.

Hitman, as he is popularly known, consulted his Mumbai Indians teammate Yuvraj Singh when he was going through a patchy phase in the Indian Premier League. Sharma, who was failing to take off from the starts he got in the IPL is now in a league of his own. The swashbuckling opener became the first player to score 5 hundreds in a single World Cup edition after he stroked his 3rd successive ton in the last group game against Sri Lanka.

Rohit said: "I was not getting big runs. So we always talk about the game, about life. I mean, he's like a big brother to me.” The MI skipper further added, "So he said when it matters you will do it. I guess he was probably talking about the World Cup.”

Yuvraj who himself is a fan of the Hitman wants to see his mate bag the Man of the Series award. The southpaw who has done it before is not shy to take it on Twitter.

"He was in a similar phase in 2011 before the World Cup, was not getting enough runs. So what he told me was to just be in good space. And that's what he did, that's why he was so successful at that World Cup. So that is the chat we had," Rohit said.
