We put in our 100 Percent: Pollard

By Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians arrive at the National Capital, New Delhi, to face the young brigade of Delhi Daredevils. DD has started gaining momentum in the tournament after back to back wins against Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

For tomorrow’s game, the biggest challenge will be to pick-up early wickets to thwart the threat of Quinton De Cock and Mayank Agarwal. Kieron Pollard sounded confident about the team strategy of having two overseas bowlers at the top. He quoted, “The captain is the most confident player, and he knows what he wants from individuals. When you guys see that a bowler is not getting wickets our captain looks at only simplifying things and focusing on the task ahead. As some day a strategy works for you and some day it doesn’t.”

Pollard also spoke about winning the toss and chasing the target which has been the winning formula for this season. He said, “We did not put up good scores while batting first. Chasing is not easy. It’s pressurizing as you know you have to chase it down when the opposition will try their best to not let you. At the end of the day it is just a matter of doing what you need to do and doing it well.”

MI has lost early wickets in all the games which pressurize the batsman coming down the order. The fans also feel that there should be a stable opening partnership which provides a launching pad for the likes of Jos Buttler, Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard who come further down the order. Pollard said, “This is T20 cricket. It requires one or two players from the team to click at the right time. As a team we go out there and put in our 100 percent, the result is not always under our control which everyone has to accept.”

Pollard shared few words of praise for Rahul Dravid along with the Delhi boys. He said, “Dravid has been doing a magnificent job. These youngsters playing for Delhi have won their last two games; the most noticeable victory was the one when they defeated RCB in their own backyard!
