After we finished off the Tata IPL 2022 season on a high, chasing down 160 against DC, a few of our top performers on the night shared some thoughts.

The first player to receive the dressing room ‘Player of the Match’ was leggie Mayank Markande for his excellent spell of 1/26 in four overs which helped keep the pressure on DC after the pacers had done early damage.

“It’s great to finish with a win. It was not the season we wanted but a lot of learnings to take and we will come back stronger next year,” Mayank said after receiving the award.

His close friend Ishan Kishan, who shone with a momentum-generating 48 at the top of the innings, also shared a similar view after earning a dressing room POTM.

“We are all going back home now so it’s important to enjoy your time. There have been a lot of learnings and we will get better next season,” he stated.

Our young star Dewald Brevis, who scored a crucial 33-ball 37 and shared a 50-run partnership with Ishan Kishan for the second wicket, talked about the familial feeling within the team.

“Thank you for everything, this family feeling is insane. It was great to see how we came together in the last six games and we can see the future is bright. It was lovely to finish off with a win,” he shared after winning his dressing room POTM.

And fittingly, the man who finished it all off against DC with a flurry of boundaries and some baby sixes in his 11-ball 34, Tim David hoped that the myriad of emotions that the team went through helped us be back even better.

“I want to thank the support staff because it’s been a collective effort. We got through the season with different emotions so I know we will be stronger for that. Let’s take our time off and show it on the field next year,” he said.

One of the pillars of support and an ever-constant presence in our matches has been our Paltan, who cheered us on with their loud support and backed the team to the hilt.

Our skipper Rohit Sharma had a special tribute for the Paltan for their unrelenting support.

“I think the fans have been amazing, it’s the best support I have seen at the stadiums this year. The chants never stopped. They were always behind us and I do feel a little disappointed because we were not able to give our best,” stated Ro.

“However, even they understand that we are trying and some things just did not go our way. I would like to thank them on behalf of the entire MI team for supporting us even when the times were tough. Those are our true fans,” he concluded.

It has been a tough season for us, Paltan but as our players said, the experience will only make us stronger and some invaluable lessons have been learnt that will help us be back better than before next year!
