Yuvraj, Ishan camaraderie highlights Day 4

The fourth day of the MI pre-season camp brought more action from the field at Reliance Corporate Park, Navi Mumbai. With every passing day, the team is coming together well and shaping wonderfully as a unit.

From inside the nets:

Several MI batsmen were padding up during the net practice today. Krunal Pandya, Jayant Yadav, Anmolpreet Singh, among others, were seen freeing their arms at the crease. Ishan Kishan, too, was a having a cracker of a time in the nets as the youngster was seen displaying a good defensive game coupled with some powerful heaving of the ball. Coach Mahela Jayawardene kept a close eye on his batsmen as he engaged in discussions with each batsman talking about their individual game. As he mentioned in the past, the Head Coach has ensured that ample time was spent with the new boys, giving them a sense of belonging.

Left-hander connection:

Yuvraj Singh and Ishan Kishan have several things in common – both of them have an inherent ability to light up any stage with their exciting batting style. Another thing that is a factor of commonality between the two is their charisma off the pitch. The pair was seen having a good day in the nets in each other’s company. Ishan has been making the most of these sessions, learning from the player he grew up watching. A notable instance that unfolded during training today was a candid conversation between the two batsmen. A reminiscent Yuvi explained to the youngster from where he had picked up the habit of wearing his left pad first – from none other than our Master Blaster. Little did Yuvi know it was a superstition that made Sachin follow the habit throughout his career.

Challenge Accepted:

Among many routine practices, match simulation and real-game scenarios are given utmost importance. Today, the youngsters, Rasikh Dar, Rahul Chahar and Anmolpreet Singh were given such challenges. Rasikh and Chahar bowled one-one over spells to Anmolpreet. Under the supervision of the prolific MI support staff, the youngsters had a beneficial day in the nets.

Alongside these regular net sessions, Fielding Coach James Pamment has involved the players in rigorous fielding drills over the past few days. The intent is clear, the Men in Blue and Gold want to check all boxes ahead of IPL 2019, starting from March 23. Stay tuned as the action from the MI camp continues.
