India’s Mission 2023 World Cup didn't exactly get off to a flying start as rain washed out most of India's white-ball tour of New Zealand, and India lost the ODI series 1-0. Nevertheless, the sun is beaming closer to home and the Men in Blue will be hoping the three-match ODI series in Bangladesh truly marks the beginning of their preparation for next year's ODI World Cup.

It will be the first ODI series between the two sides in seven years. Hitman Rohit Sharma will be back donning the captain’s hat and tonking the bowlers for sixes. Big guns Kohli and Rahul also return to the squad for the first time since the T20 World Cup. We too needed some time to move on after that semi-final loss!

The experienced Shikhar Dhawan led the ODI team in New Zealand and kept his place while our SKY dada is rested keeping the workload in mind.

The three-match ODI series starts on Sunday (December 4). The first two matches will be played in Mirpur followed by the final ODI in Chattogram on December 10.

India were served a bitter 2-1 defeat by hosts Bangladesh the last time they played an ODI series in 2015. Mustafizur Rahman took 13 wickets in three matches and will once again lead the attack at home.

What: Bangladesh vs India, three-match ODI series

When: December 4, December 7, and December 10

Where: Mirpur (first and second ODI) and Chattogram (third ODI)

What they said

"The NCA and medical teams are looking after Jasprit Bumrah very well. And he will definitely be part and parcel of the team very soon, in a sense definitely during the Australia series in 2023. But for Bangladesh, we are a little cautious. - Indian chief selector Chetan Sharma.

"Taskin Ahmed is out of the first ODI and we will know about his availability for the rest of the ODI series only after another fitness test. Tamim Iqbal is also in doubt due to a groin injury but we will keep assessing him in the next few days." Bangladeshi chief selector Minhajul Abedin.

What to expect: The India-Bangladesh rivalry! And all the passion around it. India are clear favourites head-to-head but the prospect of beating their bigger neighbours in front of the home crowd will make the Tigers smack their lips. Expect a high-octane clash!

India’s ODI Squad for Bangladesh: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul, Deepak Chahar, Shikhar Dhawan, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Rajat Patidar, Kuldeep Sen, Shahbaz Ahmed,  Shardul Thakur, Rahul Tripathi, Umran Malik, Washington Sundar
